Calgary, AB – May 8, 2008– The Kimberley Alpine Resort Community Summit Fund is pleased to announce that another five projects will be supported through cash donations from the Fund.
Since its inception in the spring of 2007, $26,000 in cash has been contributed to local Kimberley community projects through the Fund, with another $8,000 in cash committed to longer term projects. To date, 19 projects have received cash grants.
The Kimberley Alpine Resort Community Summit Fund is a $150,000, 5-year initiative that aims to enhance the community of Kimberley by supporting sustainable local projects.
The most recent Community Summit Fund recipients include:
• Kimberley Community Band – Summer Concerts
• Local Olympic Athlete Support
• Kimberley Nature Park Society – New Guides and Park Kiosks
• Kimberley Pathfinders – Girl Guides of Canada – International Trip
• Bootleg Sled Dog Race
• Summit Community Services Society – Toys and Equipment for the Centre
All local organizations and charities are eligible for the program. Grant applications are typically reviewed by the Community Summit Fund committee every three months. To be eligible, a written application must be presented, outlining the following: the background / history of the beneficiary organization; a description of the Project receiving the grant; and date / timeline of the project in question.
