NORTH AMERICAN SKI AND SNOWBOARD JOURNALISTS CHOOSE KIMBERLEY AS BEST PLACE TO SKI AND MEET

Calgary, AB – March 24, 2006 – Kimberley Alpine Resort and Fernie Alpine Resort have been selected from ski resorts across Canada and the U.S. to host North American ski and snowboard journalists from March 29 – April 2 for their annual NASJA (The North American Snowsports Journalists Association) Conference.

Kimberley Alpine Resort was named as the host well over a year ago by NASJA through a competitive bidding process that included bids from across North America.

NASJA is a professional group of more than 300 writers, authors, photographers, filmmakers and broadcasters who report ski- and snow-bard-related news, information and features throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico via the various media. Corporate members include media contacts or employees of ski/snowboard-related businesses, such as resorts, convention and visitor associations, equipment and clothing manufacturers, or any others who have a commercial interest in the journalistic coverage of those sports.

Says Matt Mosteller, Senior Director of Business Development for Kimberley Alpine Resort, “We look forward to showcasing Kimberley Alpine Resort and this magnificent area of the Kootenays to journalists from across the continent. We have so much to offer, and this kind of event is a great way to provide excellent exposure to the community and the region.”

Says Bob Cox, VP Meetings for NASJA, “We’ve heard about the great season that Kimberley Alpine Resort has been having this year. Our group are all huge ski and snowboard enthusiasts, so we’re looking forward to experiencing it all firsthand.”

Throughout the five-day event, the group will have the chance to ski both Kimberley and Fernie Alpine Resorts, participate in a DineAround in the city of Kimberley, visit St. Eugene Mission and Resort, take part in professional development sessions, and enjoy a Gala Banquet on Saturday evening sponsored by Tourism BC, with a keynote address by John Furlong, CEO of VANOC 2010. The group will also have the opportunity to participate in Kimberley Alpine Resort’s Spring Splash Activities, taking place on April 1st and 2nd, in celebration of the end of a great season.

NASJA’s event partners include Tourism BC, Travel Alberta, St. Eugene Mission Resort, Big Mountain, Schweitzer, Association Des Stations de Ski du Quebec, Tourisme Quebec, Ski Banff Lake Louise Sunshine, Banff Lake Louise Tourism, Mont Sainte-Anne, Stoneham, Crested Butte and STAPLES.

Corporate partners include Husky, HEAD, Coca-Cola, Volkswagen, TELUS, Kokanee, CIBC, E & J Gallo and Appleton’s.
