Calgary, AB – December 15, 2005 – Kimberley Alpine Resort will open on Saturday, December 17th, and will kick off the season by saying “Thank You” to the local communities of Cranbrook and Kimberley with free skiing. With a solid 60cm snowpack on the upper mountain and 45cm at mid-mountain, Kimberley Alpine Resort will start the season with the great groomed runs it is known for.
“Kimberley Alpine Resort is a terrific destination,” says Matt Mosteller, Senior Director of Business Development for Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. “We wanted to use opening day as a way to say thank you to the local communities of Cranbrook and Kimberley, by making their first day of skiing at Kimberley a free day.”
Kimberley Alpine Resort will have a variety of runs open down the front side, and some in the back area down to Ridgeway. Non-local skiers and riders can enjoy a discounted early season rate of $39 for adults.
After a day on the slopes, head to the Stemwinder Bar and Grill for great après ski and live music by Red Shag Carpet – an original, fresh four-piece band with an infectious tone.
Local residents who wish to claim their free lift ticket should be prepared with valid identification showing proof of residence.
