Kimberley, BC – July 4th marks the start of an exciting weekend at Kimberley Alpine Resort. The third annual Uphill Long Drive Competition gets underway at 4pm in front of Kelsey’s Bar & Grill. Saturday, July 5th, marks the opening of the North Star Express high-speed quad and the Kootenay Haus Mountain Top Bistro with its million dollar views.
$1000 goes to the longest uphill drive at this annual fundraising event. The Third Annual Uphill Long Drive Competition is open to anyone. For just $10, hitters receive three chances to drive golf balls as high up the hill as possible. Spectators are also encouraged to get involved. Any donation of $10 will provide entry for any of the draw prizes. All proceeds from this event go to the Kimberley Food Bank and Lee Haskel Youth Centre.
“We hope to exceed the $1500 donated in the past,” states Trickle Creek Golf Course head golf professional Paul Dashkewytch. “The entertainment value cannot be beat and it’s great to see people, golfers and non-golfers alike, get up and hit the ball as hard as they can.”
Trickle Creek Golf Course is also pleased to offer Kimberley locals a special for the week of July 7th – 11th. Locals receive a 2 for 1 green fee based on a regular priced fee of $99.00. To book you tee time call (250) 427-5171.
Starting on Saturday July 5th, Kimberley Alpine Resorts North Star Express high-speed quad chairlift will open for sightseeing, hiking, mountain biking and access to the Kootenay Haus Mountain Top Bistro, located at 6000 feet.
Combine the Bavarian City Mining Railway with the high-speed chairlift and lunch and you have the Kimberley Alpine Express. A family of four (two adults and two children) can ride the train from downtown Kimberley to the resort, the chairlift to the top of the mountain and enjoy lunch at the Kootenay Haus for only $67.00.
