Vote Now for B.C Family Day!

Last year the Provincial Government announced a new February stat holiday day for British Columbia. Over the next week, the government is consulting with British Columbians on the benefits of placing this holiday with the 2nd or 3rd weekend of the month.
Neighbouring jurisdictions such as Alberta and Washington have a similar holiday on the 3rd weekend. For this reason, many popular tourism destinations and travel routes are very busy with out-of-province visitors (eg: ferries, hotels, resorts).

Fernie Alpine Resort, Kimberley Alpine Resort and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and every other resort in British Columbia has said the 2nd weekend of February would be the best weekend for a holiday. Currently, the 3rd weekend of February is a busy weekend which limits the capacity of resorts to accommodate BC residents. Placing the holiday on the 2nd weekend would allow many more British Columbians to enjoy a mountain resort vacation with fewer crowds and, as a result, likely better prices.
